Experienced Technicians

Our technicians are experienced with installing Ostendo software and troubleshooting network issues for Ostendo and the Firebird SQL database engine.

We provide technical services for Ostendo in conjunction with your IT provider. These services include;

  • Advice on network and system specifications for Ostendo Operations (ERP).
  • Installation of Ostendo Operations (ERP) and Ostendo Freeway mobility.
  • Installation of the Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System for the Ostendo Operations database.
  • Installation of the Ostendo API Service for Ostendo Freeway, webstores or other third party system integrations.
  • Installation of Ostendo Queue Services and Web Services.
  • Installation of the Ibis Monitoring System.
  • Network and system troubleshooting support for Ostendo Operations, Ostendo Freeway and Firebird.
  • Installation and setup of the Firebird ODBC driver for reporting purposes only.

Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System

Whenever we install Ostendo Operations software we also install our Internal Ostendo Backup System that can safely take live backups of the Ostendo Firebird SQL database throughout the day while Ostendo Operations is running. This means that if there is a need for a backup you will only have a few hours of data entry to catch up on since your last available backup.

This is an internal backup system only with the sole function to create backup files of the Ostendo Operations database in specified backup file folders in order for them to be backed up by your own backup system. 

Ostendo Operations runs on a Firebird SQL database which is not VSS aware. The Ostendo Firebird SQL database should not be backed up live by backup software that uses the VSS service such as ShadowProtect. This has the potential to cause corruption to your Ostendo Operations database and may also prevent your backup files from being able to be restored successfully.

If any of your backup systems use a VSS service we strongly recommend that the Ostendo Operations database be installed on a partition of the drive that is excluded from the backup and that the Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System be used to backup the Ostendo Operations database and create backup files for your backup system.

Ibis Monitoring System

Whenever we install Ostendo Operations, the Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System or any of the Ostendo Services (viz, API, Queue or Web Services), we also install the Ibis Monitoring System.

Certain events or environmental factors on your computer system have the potential stop the Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System and any installed Ostendo Services (viz, API, Queue and Web Services) from running. Causes for this could range from the password on the computer system being changed to events that cause the computer system to hang or crash.

The Ibis Monitoring System we install monitors that the Ibis Internal Ostendo Backup System and any installed Ostendo Services are running and sends alerts if they stop running so that the services can be reinstated. 

The Ibis Monitoring System also helps keep any installed Ostendo Services (viz, API, Queue and Web Services) running in case of events on your computer system that may normally stop them running. This minimises the risk of an event on your computer system stopping your Ostendo database backups from working without you realising it.
